The ultimate Affirmative Action is that a talentless hack like Rufo and multi-billion loser like Ackerman are seen as skilled and accomplished says it all.

No institution of higher learning should have an endowment that enormous. Greed and corruption are antithetical to becoming an enlightened society. I’m so tired of rich white men claiming power over everything to make the world over in their image. Boring!

This had nothing to do with right-wing politics and everything to do with Israel's amen corner claiming a scalp to silence Israel's critics.

You are 100% correct, Jordan. this, about that guy's Harvard diploma:

And when the conservatives are talking about being 'color blind', they really mean that they do not want to see other colors than white. I'm a 75 year old retired teacher, and white, in Wisconsin.

It is also obvious from Mr. Rufo's tweets that he is seeking to mold all colleges in his bigoted image, clearing the way for his ilk to be the only ones deciding who attends these colleges and Universities.

I think we can expect this billionaire class to pinpoint more targets for their unjustified wrath in 2024.

Since they're wholly unwilling to create a better society with their wealth, they will continue to punch down.

Great analysis of the “takedown”, of who they are , who funds them and how and why it’s done! Keep up the good work. I’m sure this story isn’t over yet.

If they can attack academic freedom at Harvard, every university leader will be afraid to stand up to them.

Universities are the only thing that billionaires can't directly buy. They also do a lot of research and are sources of information that is very inconvenient for billionaires.

They went after Michael Mann years ago (climate change researcher) years ago. Now they are trying a different tack. Though diversity annoys them, higher ed is just a dangerous sector for the extremely wealthy. They went after universities in N. Carolina, Wisconsin, Texas, Florida, etc.

And they are making. inroads. If you want billionaires to control ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING then it doesn't matter. But there's a reason they go after universities so relentlessly.

Going to the top of the pile is a very good strategy, in fact.

There is encroachment of corporate thinking into universities but this is simply untrue.

People are still being educated in universities. Everyone who is educated depends on universities to become educated. Research is still being done. The vast majority of scientific research depends on universities.

Eduction was never 'a service.' Education is a social institutions, always fundamental to a society but more or less central. They are not very central to US society but as the last institution that was able to operate independently from capitalism for the most part, the billionaires have become hostile to them.
