It takes an awful lot to rouse Democratic voters, as we saw by the disastrous election results last year.
We spend more time attacking each other for differing views and varying degrees of ideologically purity than we spend attacking America’s enemies.
Maybe, instead of constantly trying to herd cats into some kind of organized movement, Schumer inadvertently falling on his sword was just what we needed to coalesce into effective opposition AND install some young, aggressive leaders.
I see AOC is joining Bernie in his tour against oligarchy.
There were ten Democrats who voted for the continuing resolution and others who silently backed it, afraid of upsetting the Democratic base during their re-election cycle. Here’s what John Hickenlooper, who voted no, said after the vote:
"Did we have leverage? We had two horrendous choices… Chuck Schumer is in a very, very difficult spot. He made a real, hard decision. His supporters in New York are a big part of the base, as well. He knew how he was going to get attacked and he still made the decision. He deserves my respect.”
Not every Democrat supported the resolution, but leadership, and a significant percentage of the caucus, backed it. They are in control. They empower Schumer. If you want to change the party, you have to acknowledged that its leaders and too many of its rank and file failed.
Gillibrand is just returning to her Blue Dog roots. She never misses an opportunity to disappoint. And to think that we lost Al Franken over Sen. Gillibrand's outrage.
There are always appeasers to every autocratic government. They are people that don't want to risk what they have and with respect to institutional Dems, they don't want to risk their plush jobs and noblesse oblige. After years of soft living and preferential treatment, they just can't conceive of themselves as actually fighting for something. I call them go along to get along people.
I’m in NY 20, Gillibrand’s district. A good portion of her district is solid red. We never see her, those of us who are little blue dots in the sea of red… just across the county line is NY 21 also solid red…I see Stefanik at every Veteran dinner and fireman’s memorial. These Dems are killing us.
We need a new party - free from corporatist cowards. Of course Schumer folded. He thinks he will be fine with his insider-trading gains and millions in the bank and only a few more years on this god-forsaken earth. May he be riddled with microplastics and die alone. And may he be booed out of office in shame before then.
Well JZ. Schumer did exactly what I thought he would. That no good old bastard sold us out!!! I just saw him on TV. He is full of shit!!! Excuse my language. I am really, really upset! This sell out gutless POS needs to resign tonight!! He got called by some business people & sold out our working people. The Union for government workers told him to force the Republicans to own all of this. This fence riding SOB just lost votes & possible supporters of the American Resistance to the Nazis shoving shit down our throats!!! We may need a third Party. Who the Hell needs “Friends” like this? This is unf-cking unbelievable!!! Schumer is a F-cking sell out Coward!!! Resign you POS!!!
Here’s an idea. Why don’t we think about really starting fresh. Let’s think big. We have a bunch of R’s on one side beholden to I don’t even know what to call it. On the other side, we have a pile of confused directionless desperate and powerless (or at least they act way) persons pretending to represent again, I don’t know what. To say the least, this is not a working system. Let’s put everything on the table instead of just struggling to regain a crummy portion of a status quo not very many people like. Details to be fleshed out. The most important things are to believe that this is a great opportunity and then to seize it. Just imagine what is possible. We know what we want, meaning lack. We have the money to (or can get it). Everyone gets a say. Thoughts?
Maybe Schumer did us an unintended favor.

That's a fine start. A very fine start.
Democrats didn’t fold. Leadership stabbed us in the back.
Once again headline is wrong.
Two Democrats leaders stabbed the rest of the Democrat Senate and House Democrats in the back.
That is what should be your headline.
Good grief. Just as bad as Schumer.

Appearances deceive. He made the better choice.
Yep!
We have cowards for leaders. This shall not stand!

No spine. Shame on the Dems. Republicans would have done complete opposite and they are laughing at you. And ya got nothing for us. Nothing!

I have to share this, I saw it today and it's the best article that describes Democrats (politicians) and Trump voters https://www.sfgate.com/politics/article/hey-democrats-wake-up-20219559.php?utm_content=hed&sid=6616d8231932d25d360e8c3a&utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_term=briefing&utm_campaign=sfgt%20%7C%20the%20daily&stn=nf
This article is spot on
Omg this was just what I needed this beautiful Friday morning! It’s not just me!!!!!! 🤣👏🤣👏
Jordan, you know New York politics. Why does a populous, wealthy state get garbage collaborators like Hochul, Cuomo, Hakeem, Schumer, and Suozzi?
Another reason to never again donate to Democrats!!! Only fools do that.

Yes please... and how?
Progressives can't lead their way out of a paper bag.
My thought is to start with people like @JessPiper and go from there. She is an ED of a Coalition to elect MO Dems.
Because WTF else do I do from MetroWest Boston? Warren and Markey are awesome and Auchincloss is doing great.
