Welcome to a Sunday evening edition of Progress Report.

One week from now, I’ll be at the Cleveland Clinic, awaiting yet another open-heart surgery (lucky number seven). I’ll still be writing newsletters this week, and hopefully hosting a live stream interview or two.

Thank you to everyone who has remained a paid subscriber since I announced the heart surgery; your support really means the world.

Tonight, we’re talking about elections.

Thank you to our latest crowd-funding donors: Richard, Margaret, Peter, Thomas, David, and William!

How about some polls and trolls?

Texas: Races are tightening up!

  • State Rep. James Talarico has opened up a four-point lead on psychopath AG Ken Paxton in the crucial Senate race, according to a poll from Texas Pulse and Texas A&M. It stands at 47-43% in the Democrat’s favor.

  • State Rep. Gina Hinojosa has climbed to within one point of Republican three-term incumbent Gov. Greg Abbott, 46-45%.

  • Democratic state Rep. Vicki Goodwin has a two-point lead over incumbent Dan Patrick in the Lt. Governor race, an advantage that only figures to grow due to Patrick’s integral role in banning THC in Texas. Idiotic.

Pennsylvania: Rare state legislature poll alert — with good news for Democrats, who lead in several must-win districts.

State Navigate surveyed five districts with competitive races; Democratic challengers lead in three of them, another is topped by a Democratic incumbent, and one has a Republican firmly in the lead. Democrats hold a one-seat lead in the House and have to flip three Senate seats to win a majority in that chamber as well.

You can check out all the races at my website, FlipSeats.org.
