As usual, Harrison has it wrong. Progressives aren't using centrist Democrat's resources and volunteers, we ARE their resources and volunteers. In our intractable 2 party system it is difficult to run a campaign outside one of the parties - that doesn't mean that you fully support the character of the party for which you volunteer. The choice right now is center, center-right (establishment Dems) or far-right (Republicans/MAGA). Having recently participated in a campaign for a Democratic candidate running for an assembly position in very red Upstate NY, I can attest to the fact that the majority of the volunteers (nearly all of whom were older or retired people) were far more progressive than the current Democratic power structure populated by centrist/corporate/ establishment politicians like Jeffries, Schumer, Harrison etc. There is an increasing disconnect between the "leaders" of the party and the members of the party. The "leaders" want to re-establish the slightly less unequal, slightly less unjust pre-Trump status quo, while growing numbers of members want to create real change and reform.
really good point — Democratic establishment relies on progressives to GOTV, donate, vote, and to take whatever the party gives them. They're lucky that all their long-suffering voters are doing is asking for something more compelling, not burning the whole thing down.
I find the assertion that we socialists are not real Democrats hysterically funny. So what exactly is a real Democrat or a real Republican for that matter? A "real" Democrat, I suppose, is a cipher that appeals to no one and everyone.
