Welcome to a Thursday night edition of Progress Report.

It was a real dog of a day for Kristi Noem, the now-former DHS Secretary who was fired by Donald Trump. In the end, it wasn’t the alleged extramarital affair, the failure to distribute aid to disaster-stricken communities, the year of calamitous ICE raids, or even the cold-blooded execution of three American citizens that led to Noel’s firing; the final straw was a subpar performance on live TV, which is the only thing that truly matters to Trump.

Oh, and Congress once again bent the knee and gave Trump full authority to carry out an already-disastrous war in Iran. Yes, the United States is likely responsible for the bombing at the elementary school in Minab that murdered 175 people, mostly children.

I’m working on a longer-term project that I’ll likely be debuting in the next few days, so tonight I’ll run through some headlines that you’ve probably missed (but will want to catch up on, I promise). I don’t like putting things behind a paywall, but we’ve been losing paid subscribers, so this — and more posts generally — will be for paid subscribers only.

Thank you to our latest crowd-funding donors: David, James, Joseph, Marilyn, and Darol!
