Stephanie Ruhle did a full-hour show on MSNBC earlier this week and highlighted the assault on NIOSH. Her reporter Jacob Soboroff interviewed 4 (white, older, male) coal miners who made the same points you made, and noted that the first NIOSH layoffs came 1 week after the executive order promoting more coal mining. As Soboroff said, it appears the plan is to save coal but kill coal miners.
This is a massive assault on workers' rights, and we've seen that also under Reagan who fired so many airport traffic controllers [So much so that Sean Duffy -another incompetent busy body in the Trump Administration- can barely keep planes in the air!] and here in Wisconsin under Scott Walker who quite effectively killed teachers Unions by maligning them ad nauseam as he pushed for an idiotic "right to work", which we dubbed "right to work for less".
Let's make one thing perfectly clear: The First amendment gives us the RIGHT to peacefully assemble, and the RIGHT to seek redress for grievances. Nothing else will do.
Not only are Unions predicated on the first Amendment which is very supportive of Unions, it is our Civil Right to get just compensation for the work we do.
The only way to do this, is through Unions, and big business keeps trying to kill Unions by sending jobs abroad, by using robots to do the jobs that used to be performed by humans without any oversight or idea on what to do with the jobless people thus created except accusing them of being lazy for refusing to work for practically nothing. Workers need Unions "to protect their own economic status and to secure their influence in the political field" . [Albert Einstein, 1938]
Fire every politician who argues against Unions, Period.
Just as presidential candidates release a medical health report maybe the Senate should be supplied with a mental health evaluation of all prospective cabinet appointees. It seems that most of Trump's cabinet picks are mentally ill. I think people in the future who read the history of this administration will find it very baffling.
This administration will be happy when workers are locked in factories in unsafe conditions. That is the great America they must be longing for.
There's a dark irony here, in that RFKjr was something of a crusader against environmental mercury. But this? What a sick fucking joke.
I want just one MAGA true believe - JUST ONE - to even TRY to defend this shit.

"[I]t appears the plan is to save coal but kill coal miners."
In that case, guess they're gonna have to mine the coal themselves.

This won't do! UNION POWER!

It is painfully clear that the objective of this lawless regime is to cause the death of as many "undesirables" as possible.
I look forward to the prosecution of every one of those criminals.
Keep up the pressure, citizens, and we will make that happen. Of course, they will get due process according to the law.
