The Stakes Just Got Even Higher. Seriously.
Breaking Friday news raises the alarm (corrected)
It’s hard to believe, but the stakes in the 2020 election just got even higher.
With it sadly clear that Republicans will succeed in forcing Amy Coney Barrett into RBG’s seat on the Supreme Court, the GOP is already setting up the next step in their plans to sabotage democracy.
After letting the Trump cut short the census earlier this week, the SCOTUS agreed to hear a case that would also allow Trump’s cronies to discriminate against millions of undocumented immigrants. That’s not just wrong, it would hurt blue states’ representation in Congress and let Republican-run states to gerrymander even further.
With Barrett on the court, this is almost guaranteed to happen. Add that to a repeal of Roe v. Wade, the Voting Rights Act, and other key civil rights laws, and it’ll be up to state legislatures to defend our freedoms.
Thankfully, Democrats are close to flipping legislatures in crucial states like North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Texas, and Arizona. They need to win just a handful of seats in each of them and here at Progressives Everywhere, we’ve identified the most likely seats to flip and interviewed their Democratic candidates. If they win, Democrats will either have a say in redistricting and new state laws or, in the case of NC and PA, have total control of policy going forward.
With just a few weeks left, they need all the help they can get. Some are up in the polls, others are close behind. Donations now will make all the difference.
