“…Trump is also a populist, in the sense that he’s got a preternatural (and somewhat inexplicable) understanding of the stresses faced by regular working people…”

As I wrote in the next paragraph: “Whether or not he actually cares about working people, Trump’s political career depends on people maintaining that perception, and it has eroded rapidly this year.”

I don’t think think Trump cares about working people, but he needs to seem like he does!

I’m hoping that the Democratic trifecta in Virginia can deliver for the workers and get rid of that “right to work” shitshow. It’s always been a right to work for less imposed on our states and really bad for workers.

Nina- Love your sarcastic slogan “the right to work for less” Brilliant

We have the right to work for less in wildcat Texas too. Ima borrow that slogan and use it snidely.

Go Virginia. Use that trifecta 👊🏼💪

In a town where Zohran won by a very large margin, it would have been political suicide to try and do to him what he did to the President of Ukraine.

Also Trump is a champion at confusion: He knows that by confusing folks, he gets more out of them than with his disastrous policies. He can now say to his base (which voted for Zohran by a large margin): "See, I hear you. I always support underdogs and this guy was the underdog against the democratic Party". By doing this, he confuses folks and reaffirms his hatred of the Democratic Party. I don't think he has quite figured out that the Democratic Party itself has made a tight left turn .
