Welcome to a Wednesday edition of Progress Report.
Over the past seven years, Progress Report has gone from a little weekly side project to a news-breaking, narrative-shaping journalism endeavor. It’s ben kept afloat by countless hours of work and the financial support of our readership, which is something I never take for granted.
Progress Report has covered everything from local school board elections to the Supreme Court and everything in between, with a particular focus on domestic policy and flippable races. With a massive election now just eight months away, I want to make sure that we’re empowering our readers with the right kind of information, presented in the format that makes it easiest to digest and pass along to friends and family.
I’m also keyed in on growing our paid subscriber list so that I can spend even more time on the newsletter and commission articles from expert reporters and activists on the ground. Growth has been flat this year, especially since my heart surgery, so tailoring the work should hopefully make it a better value proposition for folks.
Below are a few questions that will help me figure out where Progress Report is heading for the next eight months. I’d really appreciate it if you answered the multiple choice questions, and as a thank you, I’m offering a 30% discount on paid subscriptions for the next few days. That makes a monthly subscription just $4.20 a month.
Subscribing also gives you the ability to message me directly, the link for which I’ll be sending out to paid subscribers tomorrow.
Jordan, I am sorry to learn of your heart condition and I hope the surgery went well. I went to fill out your survey, but honestly I couldn’t decide. I want both local and national news. I want both investigative reporting and opinion. I would say to do what you feel you do best and then let us know when there are people and research outlets you feel are worth supporting. Thank you. Godspeed in your recovery. Celia
Keep up the magnificent work!
